Abstract: Dynamic changes in social and economic development guidelines of the society make high demands on the independence, creativity, initiative and enterprising of the personality of graduates of higher educational institutions, in connection with which the problem of self-realization of youth in the modern world is actualized. The article presents a theoretical analysis of the research of the problem of self-realization of the personality of students in the process of mastering the educational and professional activity, the concept and components of self-realization of students of educational institutions of higher education are concretized. The results of content analysis of ideas about self- actualization of boys and girls studying in institutions of higher education are considered, a prototypical analysis of the data obtained according to P. Verges’s technique is presented. Gender peculiarities of ideas about self-realization among students in higher educational institutions are analyzed
