Abstract: The role of independent work in the activities of military educational institutions cadets, that is the basis of contemporary educational process and is focused on active methods of knowledge acquisition is discussed as well as development of cadets’ abilities with due account of their needs and possibilities. Organization of independent work in general technical training, methods of its activation and stimulation are be3coming important due to fast increase of scientific information and the necessity to develop such qualities of the specialist as independence, activity, responsibility, moral courage and will.
